Marta Mendes

Research Interests

Great apes; Cognition and Communication of primates.

Short Bio

I began my academic journey at the University of Aveiro, where I completed a master’s degree in Applied Biology in 2022. During my studies, I worked as a researcher in the field of ecotoxicology. After completing my research grant, I gained experience as a primary school science teacher and later worked as a medical writer for two different companies.
My lifelong passion has been the study of primates, especially gorillas. I have delivered several courses and presentations at the University of Aveiro focused on gorilla biology and ecology.
In addition to my academic and professional pursuits, I co-founded APRAE, an association dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of exotic domestic animals.
