Mariana Cravo-Mota

Mariana Cravo-Mota’s is a PhD student affiliated to CIBIO – Research Centre in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources and supervised by Nuno Ferrand, with co-supervisors Paulo Gama Mota and Susana Carvalho. Mariana’s doctoral research focuses on the apes of the Maiombe Forest in Cabinda, Angola. This project aims to investigate the demographics, ecology, and behaviour of these apes to contribute to their conservation and understand their role in the ecosystem.

Mariana is dedicated to primate conservation and has a deep interest in the natural history and behaviour of apes. Her work in Cabinda, Angola, will be key for the protection and understanding of these important sites in the rainforests of Cabinda with sympatric populations of chimpanzees and gorillas.
