Research Interests
d’Oliveira Coelho’s research interests encompass Geospatial Paleontology, Paleoecology, and Gorongosa. Within the realm of Geospatial Paleontology, the focus lies on automating remote sensing and AI techniques to investigate the distribution and interrelationships of fossil assemblages. In the domain of Paleoecology, his main interest is in reconstructing ancient ecosystems and the ecological dynamics of extinct mammals via machine learning approaches. The Miocene of Gorongosa presents a unique temporal, geographical, and paleoenvironmental context for examining evolutionary processes involved in the hominoid radiations and hominin origins.
